The Agency for Brand Experiences Wins the DONG Energy Account, Danish Global Market Leader
Fresh wind for EAST END. The agency for brand experiences wins the DONG Energy account and becomes responsible for the festivities opening the first offshore wind park in Germany at Norden-Norddeich.
Thomas Thune Andersen, Director of the Board at DONG Energy, together with representatives from state and national politics and business, welcomed around 200 guests in northwestern Germany, where the wind park operations are located. Under the slogan „energy for new horizons”, His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark flipped the switch, paving the way for clean electricity in 320,000 German households.
EAST END developed an overall concept for the opening for the Danish world leader in the area of offshore wind parks, playing with the forces of nature: LED projections, lighting designs and wind machines provided for powerful emotional and visual impressions.
Borkum Riffgrund 1
The wind park is located 37 kilometers north of the island of Borkum and 54 kilometers from the German coast. With a power capacity of 4.0 megawatts (MW) per wind power station (WPS), the 78 WPSs with an overall power capacity of 312 MW will produce enough electricity a year to supply 320,000 German households. In this way, Borkum Riffgrund 1 contributes significantly to achieving the German government’s goal of a total of 6.5 gigawatts (GW) from offshore wind power by the year 2020. To date almost 3 GW have been constructed in the German North and Baltic Seas.
For over 20 years, DONG Energy has planned, built and operated offshore wind parks and is the Danish world market leader. Since 2011, the company also invests in extending German offshore wind power. The wind energy station in the German North Sea reliably produce green electricity, thereby contributing to future supply security.
