Shopping experience with high gamification factor:
ECE relies on interactive experience concept for shopping centers

EAST END developed a low-threshold AR experience for shopping centers for ECE Marketplace.

In Germany and Austria, the retail company installed so-called “Christmas Doors” in 24 shopping centers, which enabled visitors to experience a low-threshold Christmas AR experience using their smartphones and corresponding QR codes. The aim was to offer guests a surprising added value with entertainment factor while shopping in order to enhance the shopping experience to the maximum.

The experience consisted of two options, each of which was linked to a competition. The focus was on gaming and storytelling through performant and high-quality 3-D elements that harmoniously blended into the shopping center design. Three festive and various face filters served as highlights. Using these selfie filters, users could share user-generated content on their own social media channels or send Christmas greetings to their personal environment. 190,000 unique visits and a conversion rate of 63% in the one-month campaign period reflect the success of the AR application.

EAST END was responsible for consulting, concept development, sell-in, experience design and roll-out. As more and more consumers rely on pure online shopping platforms, ECE Marketplace pursues the overarching goal of enhancing the personal shopping experience of each individual visitor with holistic experiences.
